12-3-19 College basketball Games to Watch

CBB Games to Watch 12-3-19

Headliner Games

#4 Michigan at #1 Louisville (-5 ½) (ACC/Big Ten Challenge) at 7:30 p.m. (ESPN)

#10 Duke at #11 Michigan St. (-6) (ACC/Big Ten Challenge) at 9:30 p.m. (ESPN)

This is arguably the strongest slate of games we have had this season (opening night was pretty strong, and some of these days with the Battle 4 Atlantis and other early season tourneys were good too). So, a month ago the Duke-Michigan St. game was the clear headliner for tonight; then Duke (7-1) lost to Stephen F. Austin and Sparty (5-2) lost to Virginia Tech. Now it’s second fiddle, but still a really good match-up. I think Sparty wins this one in a close one; Cassius Winston seems more likely to get help scoring than Tre Jones.

Thanks to Juwan Howard and Michigan’s hot start, the headliner tonight is the Wolverines (7-0) at new #1 Louisville (7-0). If Michigan can grab yet another high-level win away from home, they should be your new #1 next week. I don’t think they will, but what a story it would be. Louisville hasn’t really been tested yet, so it will be interesting to see how they respond to a real challenger. Jordan Nwora has been excellent. This game should be great. I like the Cards in a close one.

Upset Watch Games

Vermont at Cincinnati (-7) at 7 p.m. (CBSSN)

Lafayette at St. Joseph’s (-4) at 7 p.m. (ESPN+) $$

UAB at Texas (-13) at 8 p.m. (LHN)

Buffalo at Vanderbilt (-3) at 8 p.m. (SECN+)

Bradley at #15 Memphis (-12) at 9 p.m. (CBSSN)

Illinois St. at TCU (-13 ½) at 9 p.m. (FSN)

These 6 games feature a mix of slight underdogs and bigger underdogs. Lafayette and Buffalo clearly have the best chance to pick up nice road wins. Bradley and Vermont could pull a surprise as well.

Other games to Watch

Loyola (IL) at Ball St. (-1 ½) at 7 p.m. (ESPN+) $$

Valparaiso at E. Michigan (- 2 ½) at 7 p.m. (ESPN+) $$

Dartmouth at Georgia St. (-6 ½) at 7 p.m. (ESPN+) $$

N. Kentucky at Miami O. (-3 ½) at 7 p.m. (ESPN+) $$

Butler at Ole Miss (-1 ½) at 7 p.m. (SECN)

Iowa at Syracuse (-4) (ACC/Big Ten Challenge) at 7 p.m. (ESPN2)

W. Kentucky (-3 ½) at Wright St. at 7 p.m. (ESPN+) $$

Lipscomb at Belmont (-13) at 7:30 p.m. (ESPN+) $$

Murray St. at Missouri St. (-5) at 8 p.m. (ESPN+) $$

#17 FSU at Indiana (-2 ½) (ACC/Big Ten Challenge) at 9 p.m. (ESPN2)

Rutgers at Pittsburgh (-3 ½) (ACC/Big Ten Challenge) at 9 p.m. (ESPNU)

Arizona St. (-1 ½) at San Francisco at 11 p.m. (CBSSN)

These dozen games have the potential to be nail-biters. FSU-Indiana stands out as a game that will get some national attention; Iowa-Syracuse and Butler-Ole Miss also will have important implications for those teams. The others are mostly mid-major battles that should be good. Enjoy!
