College Basketball Games to Watch 11-14-19

Headliner Games

Penn St. at Georgetown (-2) (Gavitt Games-Big East vs. Big Ten) at 6:30 p.m. (FS1)

#3 Michigan St. (-6 ½) at #12 Seton Hall (Gavitt Games-Big East vs. Big Ten; Newark, NJ-Prudential Center) at 8:30 p.m. (FS1)

Michigan St.-Seton Hall is the big one tonight in a battle of ranked teams. Seton Hall’s star Myles Powell is reportedly a game-time decision for the game (originally it was reported he’d be out for a while and miss this game for sure). Spartan star Cassius Winston will face a tough team for the first time since the sad news of his brother’s suicide. This game was expected to be one of the most entertaining and best non-conference games of the season. I still think that will be the case but Powell’s injury and Winston’s family tragedy certainly has dampened some enthusiasm for this one. I am going with the Spartans to win in what should be another emotional night for Winston, his family, and his team.

Penn State and Georgetown is a good undercard. Georgetown has continued to be up-and-down in the early season so far (which looks a whole lot like last year). Penn State has yet to be tested with easy wins over UMES and Wagner. This one should be entertaining and I like Georgetown in a close one.

Upset Watch Games

UL-Monroe at Mississippi St. (-15 ½) at 7 p.m. (SECN)

Vanderbilt at Richmond (-6) at 7 p.m. (ESPN+) $$

Long Beach St. at #18 St. Mary’s (-20 ½) at 10 p.m. (WCC Network)

Pretty light on the obvious upset potential for tonight. Vandy is the most likely upset above, and it would be a mild one as both teams are coming off rough years. St. Mary’s is unlikely to trip up again after just dropping the home game vs. Winthrop. I think the home teams win all three of these but they may get tested.

Siena at Harvard (-10 ½) at 7 p.m. (ESPN+) $$

So. Miss. at N. Florida (-6) at 7 p.m. (ESPN+) $$

San Diego (-1 ½) at Weber St. at 9 p.m. (Pluto TV)

It’s a light mid-major slate tonight. I think the Winthrop-ETSU game will be closer than Vegas says; the Eagles are not getting much respect after traveling to California and knocking off St. Mary’s. On the other hand, they come back across the country and face the SOCON favorites. If they pull off the upset, they will be building quite a resume’. It will be interesting to see if Evansville is sluggish tonight after their epic upset over UK. Siena-Harvard is another sneaky good game. Enjoy!
